Hope Ensemble Project
Pianist Quynh Nguyen seeks your support for charitable, cultural and relief efforts during her forthcoming concert tour in Vietnam!
Please help to the extent you can!
Your generous donations are being sought to promote charitable, cultural, and relief efforts during my forthcoming concert tour in Vietnam in March 2007.
Music, music performance and music appreciation are essential elements of the life of culture and society, and touch many who are fortunate to be exposed to its wonders. Many others, however, are less fortunate for lack of exposure, and a smaller number still may find it difficult to be so touched due to some impairment of their own.
The purpose of this appeal is to seek your charitable donations to promote music, music performance and music appreciation to help overcome the impairments of the few, and the lack of exposure of the many.
To overcome the impairments of the few, it is proposed to fund the practice and performance of vision-impaired, blind young musicians who, after much effort and dedication, have graduated from the Conservatory of Music of Hanoi in Vietnam. Led by Faculty Members of the Conservatory, they are now performing as the Traditional Instruments Ensemble "Hope Ensemble". Your charitable donations would support these young musicians, rent or purchase equipment, pay for other incidental costs of artistic performance, such as travel and venue.
To overcome the lack of exposure of the many, it is proposed to reach a quarter-million students from elementary to high school in the more than 500 schools of Hanoi alone -- and many more in the surrounding provinces -- through the presentation of traditional instruments music concerts performed at those schools by that very same Traditional Instruments Ensemble "Hope Ensemble".
Charitable donations can be made via Institute for Vietnamese Culture & Education*. Please add memo "For the Hope Ensemble Project, c/o Quynh Nguyen"

Herewith is a transcript of the request from the Hanoi Relief Association for Handicapped Children and its Chairman, Mr. Nguyen Trieu Hai.
To: Ms. Quynh Nguyen, Pianist
Dear Ms. Quynh Nguyen,
We are delighted to learn, through Maestro Ton That Triem, that you intend to perform in recital in late 2006, early 2007 in Vietnam and to promote charitable efforts at the same time as well.
The Hanoi Relief Association for Handicapped Children is a non-governmental (private) organization dedicated to the improvement of the health, education and economic welfare of disabled children.
There are more than 5000 disabled children living in Hanoi. Their disability range from impaired vision (blindness), impaired hearing (deafness), impaired speech (muteness), paralysis, mental illness, etc…
Our work focuses on providing disabled children access to health care, medical services, educational and training opportunities.
Vietnam is a poor country, having suffered many years in war. The Association will therefore be most grateful for the generous assistance from organizations or persons towards our relief efforts, which precious assistance will fund the support of the disabled.
It would be a great honor for us to be able to collaborate with you in your charitable benefit activities during your recital tour in Vietnam.
